Terms of Service

The short version

  • Sora is free. It's a planning tool, not financial advice.
  • Your data is yours and encrypted so only you can read it. Keep your password and recovery key safe: we can't recover them.
  • Use it lawfully and don't try to break it.
  • We'll do our best to keep it running, but it's provided as it is. We'll give notice before shutting it down.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and rinzai ("we", "us"), who runs Sora at sora.rinzai.dev. By creating an account or using Sora you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

2. Who can use Sora

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. Sora is for personal use: planning your own or your household's money.

3. Your account and keys

  • Give a real email address you control, and keep your sign-in details (password, passkeys, Google account) secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.
  • Your data is encrypted with a key made from your password. We can't reset your data's encryption or read it for you. If you forget your password, your recovery key is the only way back in. If you lose both, your data is permanently lost, and we can't be responsible for that.
  • Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to your account.

4. Your data

You own everything you put into Sora. You give us permission only to store and transmit it, in encrypted form, to provide the service to you. We can't read it and we don't use it for anything else. You can stop using Sora and ask us to delete your account at any time.

5. Not financial advice

Sora helps you plan with the numbers you enter. Projections, balances, affordability dates, EMI schedules and currency conversions are estimates based on your inputs and on published exchange rates (European Central Bank reference rates, which may be delayed). They are not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Check important figures, such as loan terms, with your bank or an adviser before relying on them.

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • use Sora for anything unlawful, or to store content you have no right to;
  • try to access other people's accounts or data, or get around security or rate limits;
  • probe, scan or test the service's security without our written permission (responsible disclosure to [email protected] is welcome);
  • overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the service beyond what the law allows, or access it with automated tools other than as a normal user;
  • resell Sora or present it as your own.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and will tell you why unless the law or security prevents it.

7. The service

  • Sora is free. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you in advance, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.
  • We may change, add or remove features. We'll aim to keep the service available but can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • If we decide to shut Sora down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email so you can take your data out, except where that isn't possible (for example, if a provider stops working without warning).
  • Sign-in with Google is also subject to Google's terms.

8. Our responsibility to you

Sora is provided free and "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond those in these terms, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses caused by your inputs, lost passwords or recovery keys, or events outside our reasonable control. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to ₹5,000.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under India's Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and, if you live in the UK or EU, the consumer laws of your country.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Sora and ask us to delete your account whenever you like: email [email protected]. We may end this agreement with 30 days' notice, or straight away for a serious breach of section 6. Sections 4, 5 and 8 continue after it ends.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Sora and delete your account.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer living in the UK or EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of where you live and can bring proceedings in your local courts. Please contact us first: most problems can be sorted out by email.
